A large antique Meiji era Japanese Imari plate. The piece is hand painted with Imari decor, and floral ornaments in iron red and cobalt blue, and depicts seven gods of happiness. Late Meiji or early Taisho period, circa the late 19th or early 20th century. Imari ware is a Western term for a brightly-colored style of Japanese export porcelain from the Arita region in the 17 and 18th centuries. Shichifukujin, the seven gods of happiness that bring happiness and good fortune, are Ebisu, Daikokuten, Hotei, Jurojin, Fukurokuju, Bisyamonten, and Benzaiten.
