Paul Falconer Poole RA (British, 1807–1879) oil painting on canvas, Greek Exciles. Signed lower left. Framed. A gilded plate showing the title and name of the artist lower to the center on the front of the frame. Paul Falconer Poole RA, a British subject and genre painter. Though self-taught, his fine feeling for color, poetic sympathy, and dramatic power gained Poole a high position among British artists. Provenance: The present lot on auction form part of the Kuranda's family estate. The provenance of items can be tracked back to Felix Kuranda in XIX Century Austrian Empire, member of a well known family of bankers and politicians; directly related to the Karpeles, Wittelshofer, Milne And Lederer families. The most chronological recent lots are former belongings from USA veteran Major Thom Stellinger-Scott related through marriage with the Kuranda lineage. He was a veteran of Korean War as well as a reputed amateur photographer and artist. The Stellinger-Scott family resided for decades at Montauk Long Island NY. One of a kind artwork.
