A hand embroidered portrait of Fyodor Ivanovich Chaliapin in the role of Mephistopheles, 1873 to 1938, an outstanding Russian opera and chamber singer high bass, who at various times was a soloist at the Bolshoi and Mariinsky theaters, as well as the Metropolitan Opera. Hand Embroidered by B. A. Altendinger, 1887 to c. 1960s. Altendinger was an artist architect, decorator. Mariinsky and other theaters since 19102. Student of Alexandre Golovin.
