Anatole Efimoff, Russian, American, 1897 to 1981, an oil painting on board depicting a still life with flowers and fruits, 1979. Signed and dated, lower right. Framed. Anatole Alexandrovich Efimoff was a Russian artist. In1906 he entered the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture and was under the guidance of Klavdy Lebedev. Immediately after graduation, Anatole joined his father and older brother serving in the Imperial Cavalry. In the winter of 1918, Anatole and what remained of his cavalry unit, left Russia on a four-month trek through Siberia to Harbin, Manchuria, which was then a part of China. He lived in China for over 30 years. He opened the Lotus Art Studio where he showed his work and taught both foreign and local students. Anatole arrived in San Francisco in November 1950. His first private showing in the United States was in 1951. His works can be found in Museums and private collections. One of a kind artwork.
