A Russian silver tabletop decoration made in the form of a toad with a body adorned with emerald green champleve enamel and eyes set with cabochon cut gem stones, possibly rubies or pink garnets. Mounted on a rectangular silver and green nephrite jade base. Hallmarked on the base with 88 silver standard next to a female head in a kokoshnik turned to the left and other Russian hallmarks. Champleve is an enameling technique that consists of cutting away troughs or cells in a metal plate and filling the depressions with pulverized vitreous enamel.
