Lot 0150: LARGE RUSSIAN SILVER ENAMEL EGG CASE W GEM STONES

A large and beautiful Russian silver gilt Easter egg case decorated with a floral pattern made using the cloisonne enamel technique and also features images of 4 double headed eagles, which is the Russian Royal coat of arms. The eagles are set with gem stone cabochons, most likely amethysts, in their chests. There is also a green cabochon cut gem stone on top in the center of the egg, surrounded by a beautiful round cloisonne enamel pattern. The egg opens on a hinge in the center, revealing a hidden gold plated compartment for storing trinkets or jewelry. The egg is also mounted on a beautiful gilded stand in the form of 3 lion legs with the wings. The stand is hallmarked with an 84 Russian silver standard. The egg case is marked with an 88 silver standard and bears the mark of the master. Russian Silver and Natural Stones Collectibles. Total weight: 435 g.
