An oil on canvas portrait painting in the manner of Frida Kahlo, American, Mexican, 1907 to 1954. The Julien Levy Gallery label is attached to the reverse side. The painting is inscribed, Frida Kahlo, and dated 1945 upper left. Framed. Magdalena Carmen Frida Kahlo y Calderon was a Mexican painter known for her many portraits, self portraits, and works inspired by the nature and artifacts of Mexico. Inspired by the countrys popular culture, she employed a naïve folk art style to explore questions of identity, postcolonialism, gender, class, and race in Mexican society.
