A vintage Art Deco pressed glass box designed by Curt Schlevogt. Czech Republic, circa 1930s. Of a square shape with beveled corners. The upper part is made of green malachite glass, adorned with a relief of a nude woman and two cherubs on the lid. The lower part is made of black glass. Curt Schlevogt 1869 to 1959 designed the molds for a famous series of Czech artistic pressed glass items. In 1940, Schlevogt owned more than 1300 glass molds, coin molds, and hand presses. They had their own workshops for cutting, sandblasting and acid etching, and produced various objects with relief images in the Art Deco style, images of nudes, flowers and butterflies, nymphs. After World War II, the Czechoslovak government nationalized the glass industry, and the Schlevogt company closed, although most of the molds still exist.
