Lot 0418: ORDER LEGION OF HONOR AND ORDER OF ISABELLA

A lot of two orders. A French National Order of the Legion of Honor is shaped like a Maltese Star with five arrowhead shaped handles inspired by the Maltese Cross. The central disk of the front side is covered with gilt. It depicts the head of Marianne, surrounded by the inscription of the French Republic on a blue enamel ring and the date 1870. The central disc on the reverse is also gilded. It depicts crossed tricolors surrounded by the motto of the Legion Honneur et Patrie on a blue enamel ring. The badge is suspended from an enameled laurel and oak wreath. It is presented in a red box with the inscription inside and outside. The Order was established in 1802 by Napoleon Bonaparte. Circa the late 19th century. A gilt Spanish Order of Isabella the Catholic is a civil order of the Kingdom of Spain, awarded for services rendered to the state. It is a red enamel cross with expanding ribbed ends, a wide gold border, and golden balls at the ends. There is a golden glow in the form of grouped rays between the crossbeams. On the central medallion, there are pillars of Hercules two hemispheres crowned next to each other. The medallion is surrounded by a white stripe with the motto of the order A LA LEALTAD ACRISOLADA for proven loyalty. The order is suspended from the transitional link in the form of a laurel wreath made of green enamel. The obverse consists of blue enamel with a gold monogram and a crown in the center. It is surrounded by a white enameled strip with the text POR ISABEL LA CATOLICA. Historical Collectables and Memorabilia, Military Uniform Accessories, Insignia, Pins, and Badges.
