41 reviews

An ancient Near Eastern Sassanian, Sasanian, Sassanid Empire carved cannelian round seal. Circa: 2nd to 7th century CE. The imprint depicts a figure of a griffin. These composite mythological creatures, embodying features of both a lion and an eagle, were associated with power and thought to guard treasures. The stone is horizontally pierced for suspension. The Sasanian Empire, known as Land Of The Iranians was the last Iranian empire before the Muslim conquests of the 7th and 8th century AD.
