Wiktor Adam Malinovski Polish, 1829 - 1892, an oil on canvas painting depicting a rural winter landscape. Housed in a gilt wood frame with an attached name plate. The stretcher has handwritten sticky notes with the artist name and title in French. Note: Adam Malinowski was a Polish painter and theater decorator who flourished in the 19th century. He was known for his landscape paintings, particularly his studies of forest landscapes, rural landscapes, views of ruins and mills. Malinowski gained critical acclaim for his ability to capture the specificity of Polish nature and the Polish sky. He was educated in his father's workshop and studied the profession of a theater decorator in Warsaw. From 1864, he worked in Vienna as a decorator of imperial theaters. From 1873 to 1890, he was the chief decorator of the Warsaw Government Theaters. He was also an incomparable landscape painter with an extremely easy painting technique. His works were exhibited at the Society of Friends of Fine Arts in Krakow, the Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts, and the Krywult Salon in Warsaw. He was the author of polychromes in churches in Zycko Polski and Osmolin. Many of his works are currently in museum collections, including the National Museum in Warsaw. One of a kind artwork.
