In 1922, with the support of the Krakow Academy of Fine Arts, Eugeniusz Eibisch left for Paris and received a grant from the French government. He settled in Montparnasse and made friends with the group of Polish artists. Eibisch was also a friend of the writers Francis Ponge and Roger Martin du Gard.
