A rare antique Japanese Honda, late Meiji period, unusual shaped enamel over copper vase. The vase has a globular shaped body with a narrow neck and a narrow base. The ware is enameled with polychrome medallions depicting a Phoenix bird, and a dragon surrounded by floral and foliate scroll motifs made in the Cloisonne technique. The neck and the base of the ware are decorated with polychrome enamel floral, foliage, and geometrical ornaments made in the same technique. The ground of the ware is inlaid with Goldstone.
