An antique monumental French patinated bronze bust of William Shakespeare after Jean Antoine Houdon, French, 1741 to 1828. Manufactured by F. Barbedienne Foundry. Circa: 1870. Masterfully and realistically sculpted in solid bronze. Marked with an impressed stamp, Reduction Mecanique a Collas Brevete, and an F. Barbedienne Fondeur mark, on the backside, and numbered, 65, on the bottom. Jean Antoine Houdon is known for Neo classical portrait bust and statue sculpture.
