Inscribed, For Excellent Shooting, and covered with enamel in a cobalt blue shade. Two crossed rifles are placed in the middle of the target. the badge is adorned with a monogram of Nicholas The Second with a crown on top. Approved May 10, 1879, to encourage excellent marksmen in all parts of the infantry and cavalry. The sign was introduced for the lower ranks instead of galloon and lace stripes on shoulder straps. On the reverse side, there is a twist for wearing the badge on clothes. Marked with a standard Silver hallmark and other Cyrillic and Assay marks. Total weight: 25 g.
