A vintage French bronze medal depicting to the obverse a bust of Maurice de Vlaminck, a French painter, and one of his paintings to the obverse. Engraved by A.H. Torcheux. Dated 1967 to the edge. Along with Andre Derain and Henri Matisse, he is considered one of the principal figures in the Fauve movement, a group of modern artists who from 1904 to 1908 were united in their use of intense color. And an antique round copper plaque with the impressed profile relief image of the bust of Bertel Thorvaldsen, a Danish and Icelandic sculptor, and medalist of international fame, who spent most of his life in Italy. Thorvaldsen was born in Copenhagen into a working class Danish Icelandic family, and was accepted to the Royal Danish Academy of Art at the age of eleven.
