A fine reproduction of Nazi German field marshal Erwin Rommels parade baton, also known as the Marschallstab. The replica has an aluminum shaft covered with red velvet. The surface is garnished with 20 gilt eagles and 20 black enamel German crosses. Cross and Eagle decorate each end of the baton. The item also bears two inscriptions in German: Der Fuhrer dem Generalfeldmarschall Rommel, 19 Juli 1940. The item comes in a display case made of artificial leather. Johannes Erwin Eugen Rommel, 1891 to 1944, was a German general and military theorist. Rommel became a major figure in both Allied and Nazi propaganda, as well as in postwar popular culture. The 1940 Field Marshal Ceremony was a promotion ceremony held at the Kroll Opera House in Berlin in which Adolf Hitler promoted twelve generals to the rank of Generalfeldmarschall on 19 July 1940.
