An antique 19th century Chromo Typogravure print published by George Barrie after the painting A Daughters of the Rajahs by Paul Sinibaldi. Copyrighted by George Barrie, 1894. Matted. Jean-Paul Raphael Sinibaldi, 1857 to 1909 was a French painter who specialized in portraits and country scenes. He studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, under the direction of Alexandre Cabanel and Alfred Stevens. In 1881, with the support of his teachers, he was able to begin participating in showings at the Salon. Five years later, he was honored with the Prix de Rome and, in 1888, received a large travel grant, given by the Conseil superieur des beaux-arts. George Barrie, from 1893 to 1895 was the Philadelphia printer and publisher, and worked upon a large and lavish series of original etchings and chromolithographs detailing exhibits of the fine art from participating countries at the Worlds Columbian Exposition. Barrie hired some of the finest etchers of the time, the majority being either French or American, to work on the series. Antique French Graphic Art, Prints And Multiples For Collectors.
