An antique book titled George Cruikshank's Table Book. Edited by Gilbert Abbott A Beckett, with 12 steel plates and 116 woodcuts. Published by George Bell and Sons in London, 1885. Hardcover with embossed leather binding. George Cruikshank, 1792 to 1878, was a popular British caricaturist and illustrator who worked on more than 860 books during his life, including the first edition of Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens. The Table Book contains literary works by William Thackeray, Mark Lemon, Horace Mayhew, etc. The editor, Gilbert Abbot A Beckett, 1811 to 1856, was an English comic writer, one of the original staff members of Punch.
