Peter J. Hall, English, American, ink and pencil sketch painting on paper depicting costume designs for the opera Tosca at Metropolitan Opera, Commoners, 1985. Signed, titled and dated lower right. Additionally signed, titled, dated, and inscribed, For all With Love, upper left. Tosca is an opera in three acts by Giacomo Puccini to an Italian libretto by Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa. Framed. Peter J. Hall was an artist and costume designer. He was born in Bristol (England). He studied at the Western English College of Art in Bristol. He made his debut in F. Zeffirellis Romeo and Juliet at the London National Opera in 1959. This was followed by productions at the Royal Shakespeare Theater, the American Ballet Theatre, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, and Covent Garden (costumes for the performances of Otello, Simon Boccanegra, Stiffelio), at the Metropolitan Opera (costumes for the performances of Aida, La Boheme, Boris Godunov, Ernani, Force of Destiny, Lohengrin, Othello, Puritans, Tosca, Masquerade Ball, Bat). He has designed more than 40 productions at the Dallas Opera. He has worked in Milan (La Scala), Vienna (State Opera), Buenos Aires, Sydney, Venice, Rome, and other major cities. Received awards in the USA, Italy, and Argentina. One of a kind artwork.
