Alena Azernaya (Russian, born 1966) pastel painting on paper, Still Life, 1999. Signed and dated lower right. Additionally signed, titled, and dated on the back. Alena Azernaya is a Russian artist working in the genre of Naive art. An innate sense of color and laconicism of expressive means led the artist in search of his archetype to an inexhaustible source of national cultural tradition. In 2000 she began to cooperate with Alexander Glezer, a Soviet dissident, collector, poet, publisher, founder of the Museum of Contemporary Russian Art (New Jersey, USA), in whose permanent collection there are seven of her canvases since 2001. One of a kind artwork.
