A lot of nine Italian collectible hand painted cartes de visite perhaps the most ubiquitous form of nineteenth century photography. The 9 cabinet portrait photo cards are depicting male and female figures of locals in traditional picturesque costumes. From the late 1850s through the latter half of the century, these economical keepsakes circulated en masse and spurred a veritable “cartomania”.
