An antique original engraving by John Whessell, born ca. 1760, a British engraver and painter. The artwork, created in 1809, features a portrait of celebrated racehorse Meteora. Below the portrait it reads: Meteora. The property of the Rt. Honble. the Earl Grosvenor. Plate 7th of Celebrated Running Horses. Matted and framed. Meteora, 1802 to 1821, was a British Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare who won the classic Oaks Stakes at Epsom Downs Racecourse in 1805.
