An antique 19th-century French sterling silver porringer. Round shallow bowl with pierced Empire handle. The center of the piece is set with a silver coin or medal. Bust of Napoleon Bonaparte, Emperor et Roi, with sculptors signature on the obverse, Nicolas-Pierre Tiolier, 1784 to 1843. The reverse shows the Academy of Fine Art in Rome, Italy, with the Capitoline Wolf, dated 1808. 1808 was the year of establishment of the Kingdom of Italy under Napoleons rule.
