An antique early 19th-century decorative porcelain ewer or pitcher on stand. In the manner of Royal Vienna, an Austrian porcelain manufacturer. Footed piece with figurative handle and rims. Elaborate hand-painted ornaments. Two panels with multi-figure Neoclassical mythology scenes on the body. Titled Calipso on the bottom. Blue beehive hallmark on the bottom of both stand and pitcher. In Greek mythology, Calypso was a nymph who lived on the island of Ogygia, where, according to Homers Odyssey, she detained Odysseus for seven years against his will.
