An antique Japanese brass and enamel vase, Meiji period, 1868 to 1912. The baluster body with wide sloping shoulders is finely worked in silver wire and adorned with a polychrome design representing bamboo stems, flowers, and birds made in the cloisonne technique on midnight blue ground. The short narrow neck and the base are decorated with polychrome foliage and floral patterns made in the same technique. Unmarked.
