Lot 0145: ATTR TO AUGUSTE MAMBOUR BELGIAN CHARCOAL PAINTING
41 reviews
Charcoal on paper painting. Attributed to Auguste Mambour, 1896 to 1968, a Belgian Modernist artist, poster designer, and art teacher. In 1923, Mambour lived in Congo for six months, as he was interested in African art and wanted to incorporate its principles into his work. Thus, his pictorial manner can be described as having a sculptural form. This lot represents a nude Black woman. Signed in the lower right. Undated. Collectible Figurative Graphic Art.
