An antique Russian Orthodox icon of the Kazan Mother Of God hand painted with egg tempera on a gessoed wood panel. The icon is overlaid with a Silver oklad or riza, adorned with chased and engraved patterns. Inscribed in Cyrillic to the lower center on the riza. A suspension ring is on the top. Marked with an 84 silver standard, and Russian hallmarks. The Kazan Icon of the Mother of God is a revered miraculous icon of the Mother of God, which appeared in Kazan in 1579.
