An early 20th-century hand-carved wooden face mask. Presumably of Kota origin, Gabon or Congo, Central Africa. Sharp elongated features, relief zigzag pattern, golden surface. Matted and framed, Eastern Art Arcade Inc. label on the backside. The Bakota or Kota are a Bantu ethnic group from the northeastern region of Gabon and Congo.
