A pair of Chinese partly glazed clay figurines, or Mudmen. Republic of China, 1912 to 1949. First. Two elders playing go. Signed on the bottom. Second. A figure of a standing man with a scroll in his hand. Mudmen are brightly glazed figurines of everyday subjects crafted by hand. The style emerged in the late 18th century.
