A Mauritanian Islamic talisman amulet pendant called a tcherot from the Tuareg people of Saharan Africa. Crafted from mixed metals: iron and copper. The central piece has a roughly hourglass shape with slightly flared edges. Two inset, half oval shaped pieces of a lighter metal, are mounted in the middle of the main piece with copper accents around. These lighter pieces have engraved designs, possibly depicting stylized patterns or landscapes. The pendant is attached to a dark, twisted cord. African Tribal Jewelry Collectibles.
