Edmond De Pratere, Belgian, 1826 to 1888, an antique oil painting on canvas depicting a pastoral scene in a landscape. Signed lower right. Framed. Edmond Joseph de Pratere is a Belgian decorator, realist artist, landscape painter and animal painter. He began as a landscape painter around 1850. However, under the influence of animal painters Louis Robbe and Edward Woutermaertens, he also began to paint animals around 1857. He made many trips around Europe, from which he brought back many sketches from nature. His paintings, often created en plein air, give romantic realistic images of animals in nature. Later works tend towards impressionism. Antique European Fine Art, Pastoral Landscape Paintings, and Collectibles. One of a kind artwork.
