Oil on canvas painting by Aleksey Sidorov, 1924 to 2001, a Ukranian Soviet artist of historical genre. The artwork depicts Maxim Gorky with two companions by the sea in Capri, Italy. Signed by the artist and dated 1951 in the lower right. Aleksey Peshkov, pen name Maxim Gorky, 1868 to 1936, was a Russian and Soviet writer and proponent of socialism. He was nominated five times for the Nobel Prize in Literature. Gorky spent two major periods of his life on Capri, from 1906 to 1913 and from 1924 to 1930, partly for health reasons and partly to escape the repressive atmosphere in Russia. Italy has served as an inspiration for many of the authors works. Collectible Fine Art And Historical Relics.
