Attributed to William Traylor, African American, 1854 to 1949, a watercolor painting on paper depicting a blue dog. Signed upper left. William Traylor was a self-taught artist from Lowndes County, Alabama. Born into slavery, Traylor spent the majority of his life after emancipation as a sharecropper.
