A large Japanese Meiji Period Satsuma hand enamelled porcelain vase. Circa: Meiji period of Japan, 1868 to 1912. The vase features a voluptuous body adorned with vibrant, hand painted relief scenes reflecting traditional Japanese themes, including landscapes, warriors riding horses, and floral motifs. The vase exhibits a classic amphora shape with a broad base that tapers toward the neck, complemented by a flared rim. The ware is adorned with a pair of ornate sculptural handles made in the shape of a Foo dog head with an open mouth. Marked with Calligraphy, on the bottom.
