A Russian Neoclassical paper knife or letter opener in the style of a Roman gladius sword. The polished jade blade is decorated with jeweled ornamental overlay, diamonds and ruby cabochon. White guilloche enamel handle with snake overlay garnished with an oval-cut aquamarine stone on the head. Imperial eagle finial. Hallmark of 88 silver standard and makers mark are on the blade.
