An antique Chinese Qing Dynasty Kesi silk tapestry. The ware is adorned with a symmetrical composition representing a dragon in the center surrounded by Phoenix birds on the sides, and a bat upper to the center, adorned with floral and foliage ornaments on the red ground. Signed with Calligraphy. Kesi is the Chinese handicraft art of making multi colored woven patterns, made on small hand looms from raw silk in the warp and multi colored silk threads in the weft. The silk yarn was threaded by hand with miniature bamboo shuttles and pressed tightly with a wooden brush. Circa: late 18th century to early 19th century.
