Irakli Gamrekeli, Russian, Georgian, 1894 to 1943, a gouache and ink painting on paper depicting a scenic sketch for the play Mystery-Bouffe by Vladimir Mayakovsky intended for staging by prominent director Kote Marjanishvili in 1924. Signed and dated in the lower right. Irakli Gamrekeli was a stage designer. Renowned as one of the founders of Georgian avant-garde set design, he skillfully combined modernist principles with expressive theatrical concepts.
