A large Russian silver inkwell features a bear resting on its stomach, its head on its left arm and hind legs splayed, atop a polished, flat lid. The lid, which supports the bear, boasts a beaded and white enamel border and a silver edge. Beneath the lid is a double inkwell. The body is adorned with cloisonne enamel, showcasing stylized floral and geometric patterns. The base is formed from hard stone. Marked with the manufacturer and 84 Russian silver standard hallmark and other Russian marks on the top, side and inside of the bowls of the inkwell.
