Martin Jonas, Yugoslavian, Serbian, 1924 to 1996, oil painting on canvas depicting a rural scene with a woman, 1967. Signed and dated, lower right. Framed. Additionally inscribed and stamped, on the backside. He was born in Kovacica, Serbia, formerly Yugoslavia. Self taught artist who started painting as a child. In 1944 he began his artistic career as a painter; a theater set decorator and a writer for the pin up newspaper Bojovnik; during World War II, joined the partisans. 1951 Jointed the Kovacica School of Naive art ; co founder of the arts and ethnic section of the Cultural and Educational Society of Pokrok, Serbia. In 1955 he participated in establishing of a farmer painter gallery in Kovacica, Serbia. One of a kind artwork.
