A colored etching on paper depicting a harbour view scene with fishermen, Les Pecheurs a la Ligne, The Anglers, after Joseph Vernet, French, 1714 to 1789. Signed in the plates, Grave par Le Gouar and M.R. Bertaud Sculp l.r., lower right and left. Titled and inscribed in the plates, lower to the center. Framed. Claude Joseph Vernet, or Joseph Vernet I, was a French painter, draftsman and engraver, and an etching master. Landscape and marine painter. A representative of the romantic movement of French classicism in the second half of the 18th century. He worked on commissions from the Russian imperial court.
