A tall ancient Pre Columbian Taino Zemi figure likely representing Yacahu, god of fertility. Hand carved from greenstone. Fully incised with symbolic icons. The front legs extend from the head band. Residual legs are carved on back of Zemi cone. Known as Zemi idol or trigonolitho, circa 13th to 15th century. Were used as stands, reliquaries, or personal decorations and had a sacred concept and connection with the spiritual and often depict a deity figure. The figures were made from stone, shell, wood, bone, and man had many versions of them, each valued for the power it was believed to impart. It has large eyebrows surrounded by an interlocking, raised stripe. Overall it is decorated with numerous spirals in flowing stripes.
