Lot 0059: GERMAN STILL LIFE OIL PAINTING BY FRITZ FUHRKEN

41 reviews

Fritz Fuhrken, German, 1894 to 1943, oil painting on wood board depicting a still life with flowers. Signed lower left. Framed. Fritz Fuhrken was an expressionist painter and graphic artist. Fuhrken was already involved in the youth movement and the Wandervogel as a teenager and illustrated the logbook with pen drawings. His first graphic works were still entirely indebted to Art Nouveau. During the First World War he served as a volunteer on the Russian front and as a regimental draftsman. After his release in 1919, Fuhrken took up his first teaching position at a primary school in Bremen, became a member of the Bremen Artists Association, the Northwest German Artists Association and the artist group Neuwerker around Willy Menz. In 1921 he founded the artist group Der Fels together with his former campmates Franz Bronstert and Georg Philipp Worlen. European Fine Art, Expressionist Floral Still Lifes, and Collectibles. One of a kind artwork.
