The proceeds from the sale of the book were intended to help Russian artists caught in the war in France. Elizaveta Sergeevna Kruglikova, 1865 to 1941, lived and worked in France from 1895 to 1914, periodically visiting Russia. At the beginning of the World War, Kruglikova was in St. Petersburg, and visiting acquaintances told her about the hungry and beggarly situation of her colleagues who remained in Paris. This is how the idea of publishing this album arose. Despite the short preparatory period, the publication turned out to be carefully thought out, and the color monotype prints were completely glued by hand. In addition to the color monotypes, the publication contains 70 different silhouettes, from initial letters to genre scenes. Kruglikovas silhouettes are complemented by texts by Russian writers, poets and artists dedicated to Paris.
