An antique 17th-century German stoneware beer stein. Creussen production. The Apostelkrug type, Apostle Tankard. Squat handled vessel with a hinged pewter lid. The hand-painted relief body represents a religious composition, Apostles and Saints standing in circle. Each character is titled above. Inscription in German on the base: Erhart Brecht, Conr. H. MDCLXVI, 1666. The lid also features an engraved monogram JWRB. Collectible German Beer Steins, Ceramics And Pottery, Breweriana.
