An antique late 19th century Russian Orthodox hand painted icon of Vladimirskaya Mother of God with a crown on the top. Mixed media painting: egg tempera, gesso, and levkas on a wood board with gilding. Titled in Church Slavonic to the center left and upper right and left. Vladimirskaya icon is a 12th century Byzantine icon, an early example of the Eleusa iconographic type and one of the most culturally significant pieces of art in Russian history.
