An antique Russian Orthodox hand painted icon representing the Mother of God of the Sign of Kursk Root with Saints. Mixed media painting: egg tempera, gesso, and levkas on a wood board with gilding. The Mother of God is depicted surrounded by prophets: David, Moses, Isaiah, Gideon, Solomon, Daniel, Jeremiah and Elijah. Five minor saints: Saint Stephen, Saint Cosmas, Saint Theodore of Studium, Saint Agatha and Saint Theodora. Titled in Church Slavonic, upper to the center and to the center. The icon is overlaid with an 84 gilded Silver oklad or riza, adorned with chased and engraved detailed patterns. Inscribed lower to the center, on the riza.
