An antique Russian Orthodox icon of Saint Nicholas. A mixed media painting: egg tempera, gesso, and levkas on a wooden board with kovcheg. Inscribed in Church Slavonic, lower right and left. The icon is overlaid with an 84 gilded Silver oklad or riza, adorned with chased and engraved detailed patterns. Marked with a Russian Silver standard hallmark, and a makers mark. Circa: mid to the late 19th century. Russian Orthodox Religious Items and Collectibles. Silver weight 420 g.
