A vintage American Banjo Clock. The clock has a vertically elongated gilt wooden case and a white enamel dial with Roman numerals, marked Rescue. At the top is a sculpted figurine of a gilt eagle, at the bottom of the clock is a rectangular painting depicting an antique fire engine. Apparently, the clock was made for the city fire department. The banjo clock, or banjo timepiece, is an American wall clock with a banjo shaped case. It was invented by Simon Willard, and patented in 1802. Collectible US Clocks And Watches, Home Wall Decor.
