Nobumitsu Fukui, Japanese, born 1942, serigraph on paper, Number 1, depicting an abstract composition. Signed in pencil, lower right. Titled and dated 1970 in pencil, lower to the center. Numbered in pencil, 27 of 100, lower left. Framed. Nobumitsu Fukui is known for Abstraction, printmaker. Born in Tokyo, Japan, he became a US citizen. From 1964 to 65, he studied at the Art Students League in New York City. His work has been widely exhibited in New York and California. He had a one man show of painting in 1965 at the Daniels Gallery in New York. Fukuis serigraphs are formal, dynamic, and abstract. Form functions minimally as a symmetrical structure so as to focus on his real interest in color interaction. Fukuis work is represented in the collections of: Larry Aldrich Museum, Roland Gibson Museum, Tougalou College, and Dartmouth College.
